Windows Working Group - WinOF Status Meeting: Tuesday, January 05, 2010

Attendees:

                Intel, QLogic, Microsoft, Mellanox

Discussions:

QLogic focusing on their WinOF driver.

Target release in 1H '10 (June).

Working to 'disconnect' some WinOF code from specific driver code
to allow for other vendors' HCA to interface easier.

QLogic plans to submit changes to WinOF for inclusion.

Microsoft pushing for a new release of WinOF in the summer of 2010 due to
changes in the Network Direct API.

QLogic hopes to be ready with their driver in time for this release.

Sean running Network direct tests. Only problem seen so far is in ND_R_PING
when mixing current and legacy

Mellanox drivers (MTHCA / MLX4) that affects RDMA writes.

WinVerbs updates are ready. Testing has been completed.

Network Direct for WinVerbs should be ready this week.

Installation should be similar to existing release. Added to IPoIB .inf file.

ND install still needs to be included to install a provider .

If two providers are installed, and both service the same IP address, it will
use the first one it finds.

Fab would like to see IBAL provider replaced by new provider at install. That
is, the Winverbs ND provider would become the default provider.

Testing for WinOF 2.2 is proceeding. DHCP patch will be pushed into trunk and
2.2 shortly. Testing will continue with WinVerbs patches, ND Provider etc.

RC 1 targeted for Thursday, Jan 7th

Stan looking over bugs in Bugzilla database.

State of IPoIB C/M

Code is in place and partially functional but was not prioritized
by Mellanox development. They focused on NDIS 6.x instead.

Hoping to address this post WinOF 2.2

Planning for WinOF 2.3 in the summer (July) to synchronize with Microsoft's
Network Direct API release.

Would like to see RDMA over Ethernet in that release

Thanks to John Russo for collecting meeting minutes.

stan.
