Peter, To answer the question that might be asked of "what activity exists withint the appliance community", in the last 2 months, 3 projects outside of Sun and OpenSolaris have sent updates to the list about their progress in supporting the use of OpenSolaris as an appliance.
These projects are not projects that should be OpenSolaris projects, rather the OpenSolaris appliances community is the nexus at which they are made visible.
