Of those nominated, JohnS has said yes, AlanB has effectively said no,
StephenH and ShawnW have not responded, and the OGB members (Alan, Jim,
Glenn, JBeck and myself) have all said yes (though JBeck is on Jury Duty
and out of the loop)

So, no we don't have a committee - we have an OGB discussion with one
non-OGB participant and a few onlookers.

Lets discuss the high level differences of the plans Monday - there
are such extreme differences from one to the other that IMO it is
imperative to ensure the board is behind (or not) the various
structures being proposed. The output of that meeting should help
clarify things.

I know you disagree. The sense of the board meeting 2 weeks ago
was different, though, and I am trying to stay aligned with that
direction. I don't disagree with your ideas - in fact, I think they
have great potential - which is why I feel we need to resync/reset
things at Monday's OGB meeting.

My fear is that we are destroying the OpenSolaris Community in
favor of dozens to hundreds of smaller silos. Where is the
umbrella that makes us a whole? Where is the shared vision,
the ecosystem, the unified <whatever>? Isn't that what
governance and the OGB were created to manage?

Both. They are (today) inseparable. It makes no sense to me
to spend 99% of our effort doing things the "internal Sun way"
and then do things completely different in the community.

I thought we did. Start the discussion in the bug database,
roll it out into the 2008/010 wiki, discuss and iterate the
wiki on list, and then bring it to the board.

Blogs and counter-proposals-in-email are not part of the
process we agreed to use, though they have been useful.

I agree - we still have a lot of work to do.

We don't know whether or not the current webapp will support
the various alternatives being discussed (or when the new
webapp that will will be completely deployed), and we haven't
yet started discussing the communication plans and rollout
logistics...
