I would still accept, but am I invited, have I been? FYI: Brian Gupta and I have been teaming on - you guessed it - OpenSolaris all January and February long, fulltime++, night and morning. Brian first convinced (me to return) - and then actually *enabled* - me to do this by sponsoring me financially from his own private money!! Certainly not only to help me personally (paying back my bank-loans, it still goes on...), but, before all, to help this very project: www.opensolaris.org . In my case it also means that I'm neglecting University for yet another semester (no exams, nothing, no career, no job). We have ported conary to OpenSolaris x64 and SPARC. Conary is way superior to IPS. We're currently setting up our preliminary conary repository. "MartUX" has been phased out, as the name sounds too egocentric. Brian Gupta proposed "SolarFlare" as alternative. So Brian had exactly the same idea as Shawn: The proposal to establish a new type of community distro creation project. And he did have this as early as last November! Blame me that he didn't announce it back then, I wanted to first get the port done and asked him not to announce anything before we would have reached milestone rc0 of our new distro. So either accept Brian and me as your followers, or let us unhide a hidden existing(!!) "competing" project and potentially join us afterwards, if you would like to benefit from our conary port. To us it is of less importance who is considered the follower vs. leader. It is, however, of highest importance to us, to establish conary[0] as SVR4-pkgadd's successor, rather than IPS which is clearly limited in comparision to conary. Conary test bits are to come out during the next days, but the repo is not entirely bootstrapped yet. -- This message was posted from opensolaris.org
