A couple of salient points: 1) His Emancipation work, and also his i18n work, should be sponsored by another group 2) The SummerOfCode CG, should sponsor him as well. Please accept a +1 from me as a CC of that group, as well as a member at large. 3) None of John's work relates directly to Device Drivers. It doesn't fit to grant him a nomination as a Device Drivers community member -- particularly since that would impart governance for issues *within* the Device Drivers group. I've already raised a few concerns within the device drivers community. It appears that a lot of "endorsements" were handed out from the Device Drivers CG, for projects that have little to do with Device Drivers, and without going thru the proper ratification process or even bothering to e-mail the CCs or general members of that CG. I've asked the Device Drivers CG for a review of the endorsements, but I've not got back anything yet. (I want to withdraw the Drivers endorsements from a few projects that have absolutely nothing to do with drivers.) Basically, one or more of the "leaders" (who are *NOT* necessarily CC's!) decided to go on the web infrastructure and start granting endorsements. Anyway, the Device Drivers CG has got some "house cleaning" to do. I'm driving that, to bring the CG into compliance with the governance structures set forth by the greater OS.o community. -- Garrett
