As an observer, I want to see the OGB (on behalf of the community) to go on record for or against the new OpenSolaris trademark policy. I don't really care which way it goes at the end of the day - the decision must be made by the OGB members as they have the most knowledge of the situation. The OGB should either pass a resolution that says "Yes, we as the OGB on behalf of the community believe the policy is in the best interests of the community." or "No, we as the OGB on behalf of the community do not believe it is in the best interests of the community." So far, the official position appears to be "No comment." This continued paralysis is not a sign of healthy governance by the OGB. So, as long as the OGB officially sits the issue out, I believe there is little hope of moving forward in a spirit of reconcilation nor is it practical to just forget about it and move on. Only when the community representatives - that is, the OGB - take a position can the community collectively move forward. And, I do believe the community deserves a clear position statement from the OGB in a timely manner. -- justin
