Candidates for election to the OGB should be required to declare their
interests in the code and community in sufficient detail for a voting
member to understand their potential biases and context. I therefore
propose the following addition to section 6.3 of the Constitution. The
following text is as amended in the discussion at
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=554

Addition to section 6.3:

"Candidates for election shall publish a list of their commercial
affiliation,
or other interests related to OpenSolaris, so that a voting member can
understand the context from which they would act on the OGB and the
likely
biases they would bring. Candidates who before the start of voting do
not publish such a statement and attest to its accuracy shall not be
eligible
for election. The Secretary of the OGB shall maintain a public
register of OGB Members' interests."

Addition to section 6.2:

"OGB members upon change of corporate affiliation or other interests
related to
OpenSolaris, must notify the membership of the same when that change
applies."

This proposal has been discussed in the #opensolaris-meeting channel
and generally considered appropriate for consideration. I request
that this amendment be placed before the membership as part of the 2008
OGB elections and General Meeting, and this e-mail is notification
under the present Article IX process.

Regards

Simon Phipps
