I've been searching for this, too. Haven't found it. Need help. :) > I didn't try to say we have any sort of frustration concerning > governance. > > I'm looking for arguments to give to individuals or companies when > they ask us what could be their benefit to involve themselve in our > UG(s). To me, getting involved in a user group is the easiest thing someone can do. Very low barrier of entry, in other words. You show up to a meeting, hang out, meet other OpenSolaris people, share your experiences (technical or non-technical), and then participate on the ug- list between meetings. Also, I find the best UGs are /social/ groups first and /technology/ groups second. That could just be my perspective, though. > You want to influence decision around OpenSolaris ? In order for someone to have a voice at that level he/she has to participate actively enough to become a contributor/member, etc and earn his/her own way. But the notion that users participating in user groups should have a say in the community is very important. > You'll probably see this as pure marketting, but I believe we need > something like that to convince. > Agree. It's basic community development (which includes marketing), and it's important that we consider both the technical and non-technical aspects to the community. Good points ...
