But isn't that precisely the issue here?

Aside, Sun does ship things which aren't ARCed because management overrides
the decisions of the development process.

Unfortunately, this results in:

        - a lot of fixing afterwards
        - security issues
        - flaunting important rules (no incompatible changes, no services
          shall be started by default)

Whenever these things happen, there's one very simple observation
to be made: if only you have solicited input, tested the waters beforehand,
you'd know the simple changes that the project needed to make and none
of the later uproar was needed.

It's fine for experiemtns on OpenSolaris and I'm all for that, but it
should then not be made part of the "distro with mature components".
