Please clarify what action (if any) you're asking the OpenSolaris Governing Board to take. In looking at the thread on the original mailing list (opensolaris-discuss), it appears that the user in question quoted from some web site discussing software development. I probably would have expressed the same idea as: "you can't get a baby in one month by getting nine women pregnant." I have no idea, though, whether that'd expression would be more or less offensive. My advice to you would be to take up the matter with the original poster privately, and explain to him why you feel slighted by the words he used, before making this a matter of governance. (And I see that he responded to this same message in a way that indicates that he didn't see why offense was taken.) The forums here on opensolaris.org are international in nature, and it's clear that not everyone's sensibilities are the same. What's very offensive to some may be a lesser offense or even a common idea to others. I suspect that most people aren't complete ogres, and if you point out privately that what was written could be taken the wrong way by some readers, they'll correct themselves. I suggest reserving administrative action for those who are _persistently_ abusive and highly disruptive, rather than those who might make a once in a while gaff. -- James Carlson, Solaris Networking <james.d.carlson at sun.com> Sun Microsystems / 35 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677
