Subject: RE: [ogf-d20-l] A Cautionary Note - The D20 System License

<< I just see that list of categories of things that CAN be PI, and 'game
mechanics that are not enhancements over prior art' does not fit into any of
them. Since 1(d) also says that OGC is 'the entire work'...'to the extent
that such content does not embody the Product Identity', that leaves little
room for non-PI to be anything other than OGC. >>

OK, I see where some of our differences are here. I read "the entire work"
the way I'm sure it was intended: as a way to prevent building two bundled
books, one with the D20 license and complying with the OGL, and the other
with no license but all the good non-compliant stuff. I'm sure that's how
Ryan has brought it up in the past. But you're seeing "the entire work" as
defining everything that's not PI. While I don't think that's the intent, I
do see how it's a very plausible interpretation. Some clarification here
would be helpful.
