purposes of the D20STL to sell more Wizards RPG books? >>

I think Ryan's concern is that the current wording may not adequately
support this purpose, because it forbids any description of the character
creation process, even a trivial one like "reference this book". It's not
that he doesn't want you selling PHBs; it's that he fears the license needs
to change to allow this while still protecting their IP.
