Whoa! Economic and social realities. Think $1-2 each to print, address,
handle, and post each of these to the 5,000 or so stores that qualify, PLUS
the fact that at least 90% of them will arrive in a stack (or pile) of very
similar looking mail and likely go into the trash along with all the other
unsolicited catalogs and crap. $5-10 Thousand and it is likely the only
folks who read them are the ones who habitually stay plugged into the
industry anyway - i.e. they ARE on the internet and know all about us.
Direct mail is a really *REALLY* poor way to disseminate industry info . . .

Very good points. This is the sort of case where distributed effort would
make a lot more sense. If at some point the OGF produced such a document (a
short one, preferably), they would do better to post it to their Web site
(and a link on these lists) and request that interested gamers print a copy
and bring it to their local game store. Not only would that spread the costs
around (to EXACTLY those folks who care enough to bother); I'll bet that it
would actually compare to direct mailing in effectivenss. Why? Look at
Maggie's example. Of the two stores she visited, one is now on board. An
enthusiastic customer making the case is FAR more effective than some
anonymous mass mailing.
