Hyrum-
Short Answer: yes, I am having the same problem.
I have the text of my first modules (first two) all
done and all the others in advanced drafts. I have the
descriptions roughed-out in what I think will be the
3e stat block, but until we get that d20 SRD I can't
describe monsters or treasure or feats or spells or
characters, etc.
What that means, of course, is that I cant send
anything to the printer until my product is finalized,
which is a bitch. I have spoken with distributors and
my web site is up, so I am as ready to go as I can be.
But like you, I need the SRD to finish my products and
the d20/OGL to have permission to publish. Besides,
once I see the SRD, I may want to make some changes.
There may be a new item or feat or monster that I
think is really cool and that I want to incorporate
into my product. Bottom line (Ryan, if you are reading
this) is that we all need the SRD ASAP!
My suggestion is this: do what you can do, and leave
the 3e stuff blank. Admittedly, that is easier for me
since all I am doing is modules. I put my campaign
world off for later and decided to focus on modules at
first for this very reason. New game systems seem to
me to be without a doubt the hardest thing to do under
d20 and you will need the whole SRD. But on the other
hand, where it is more important from a sales
standpoint for me to ride the wave of 3e's release
with modules, you will have more time. You can sit
back and see how WotC adds Star Wars or Alternity to
d20 and follow their lead.
About the "product stat block", as you develop
products let me know what other descriptors you think
might be good to use. We "leading producers" should
work together on this. The description you gave of
your system seems helpful to me as a hypothetical
purchaser. of course, it doesnt take the place of a
good product blurb right on the cover or on your web
site.
