Boy, I'd hate to be you if you tried. Microsoft doesn't play by those sorts
of rules. I never volunteer for that kind of pain. >>
Actually, anybody can say their software is compatible with Windows, as long
as they properly denote the trademark ownership for Windows. The whole point
of Windows is to make a platform for which people want to develop software.
What you can NOT do is put one of the trademarked "Windows comatible" logos
on your product without the proper license, which mostly requires being
certified by an independent certification company. Put THAT logo on your
product without permission and you're in the hot seat. I've worked lots of
places that built Windows software; but none have been mass market
companies, so they've never seen a need for the logo.
