| I said I meant no slight and I apologize if you felt I was lecturing you. I just felt the need to say something in general about the way discussions/opinions can get convoluted if people didn't make an effort to take things in a broader context. If a poster can't step back to occasionally say "Wait, too many people are responding to one statement and not the line of thought, " without being ostracized (what ignoring posts amounts to) then the whole list process devolves into useless nitpicking and cliques. Similarly, it is very difficult to convey emotional intent in posts because all the nuances of the spoken word are out the window. I have misread "intent" of posts just as anyone else has. I wasn't being smarmy or sarcastic when I apologized for making what were probably too long posts and thereby setting up chances for the very thing I criticized. Nor do I hope you find this post offensive in tone or lecturing. I am simply trying to defend myself through an explanation. -Alex Silva |
