First things first, the sections should be numbered. Would make it
easier to keep things straight.

Now on to the first of Alan's House Rules.
The engine is expressed as, d20 + Modifiers vs. Target Number. Which
is fine and dandy when you have a d20 handy. But what if you don't?
And what if you want to use a different die type for your game? So I
present the following:
1 die of the chosen type + Modifiers vs. Target Number.
I would recommend no smaller than a d10, or any larger than a d%, but
if you really must use a d3 or a d1,000,000, don't let me stop you.
If the modified die roll equals or exceeds the Target Number, the
attempt succeeds. If the modified roll is less than the Target
Number, the attempt fails.
