Hey everyone-

I was just on the phone with Erik Mona (yes, he was in
the office at 12:00 midnight) who does Polyhedron
which is now the d20 mag. We talked about the whole
OGC thing.

The problem isnt using WotC content. The problem is
when a magazine uses 3rd party OGC. They are working
on how to handle that. I suggested putting the
copyright info in the OGC tracker boxes. I also
brought up the fact that if they "use" 3rd party OGC,
then the work falls under the OGL which might
accidentally open up content they didnt want open. For
example, if the d20 annual was an open work, then
those Robert Jordan articles have lots of content that
would have to be considered open content. Its a tricky
situation, similar to the one Campaign Magazine had
recently.

Erik is going to meet with Ryan on the matter.

I was one of the initial chorus of voices saying "the
magazine is not in compliance" and I still feel that
way. But I can assure you guys that after talking to
Erik that the d20 annual was not intended to be a
"series of ads" or "misleading." I'm hopeful that Erik
and everyone at Polyhedron/d20 will be dumping a good
amount of cool OGC on us. That seems to be their
intent.

I think this will get fine tuned and actually be a
source of OGC.

Clark
