My one problem with level based D20 mechanics is that they are too fantasy oriented. Too say "just add feats", a couple special rules, and *poof* is a HUGE oversimplification. Personally, I enjoy D20 for most fantasy and Final Fantasy Style (Console Game RPGs) power games, which the mechanics are best suited. I'll argue till I am blue in the face that level based games focus more on power and less on character development, but I think that has already been discussed here :) Seriously though, I see D20 mechanics best suited for a Series Archer, silly Bond style spy game, not a Delta Green sans monsters...well at least not THOSE kind of monsters. I think the single best book would be a Non-D20 skill based (rather than level) setting that deals with Terrorism, Espionage, Spying, Counters for Both, Hostage Rescue, Special Ops, Anti-Militia, Covert Operations, Anti-Drug, etc. Call it Rainbow Six the RPG *grin* >> Or "Agent X 2nd Edition." ;) http://www.goldrushgames.com/agentx To remain more or less on-topic, i think d20 could handle such a game just fine. All it would take are the right Feats and perhaps a few special genre rules.
