But my question is: Why do I have _less rights_ to pull out MY ORIGINAL WORK
from the OGL than Wizards does?

---------
Wizards releases in the sentence: "Elves are a race of pointed ear woods
lovers" in the players handbook. Closed.

Wizards then releases the sentence: "Elves are a race of pointed ear woods
lovers" in the SRD. Open Content.

Wizards then releases the sentence: "Elves are a race of pointed ear woods
lovers" in the "Magic & Bow" splatbook for elves. "Magic & Bow" has no OGL
in it.
------------

I type in my world Bible: "Horses are a race of fast running plain
dwellers."

I release in an OGL production: "Horses are a race of fast running plain
dwellers." Open Content.

What I am hearing is that I _CANNOT_ then put the sentence: "Horses are a
race of fast running plain dwellers." In any other book unless it is owned
by Wizards or has the OGL attached.

The question is not one of stopping re-use. Anyone can go to the SRD to get
the info on Elves and anyone can go to my OGL production and get the info on
Horses.

My question relates specifically to how sticky the OGL is in relation to me
using my own non-derivative work in other works by me.

Subject: RE: [Ogf-l] Publishing under the OGL

On 21 Aug 02, William scribbled a note about RE: [Ogf-l] Publishing under
the OG:

> Bill's Hard-drive + OGL -> D20: Billerica
> Bill's Hard-drive + Separate Licensing Agreement -> FAC: Billerica
>

First off, it depends on exactly what you release as OGC. If you
release the WHOLE thing as OGC, then you are in the situation as
Anthony related it. If you release only what is required, and keep
the rest as PI, then you can do as above. The example that
Anthony answered said the the whole tihng as OGC (meaning all
the setting details and non-d20 information as well as the d20 stuff)

> Is the same as:

> Players Handbook + OGL -> SRD
> Players Handbook + Separate Licensing Agreement -> Kingdom's of Kalamar

Not really.... Your first line is incorrect, it should read something
like this:

xx% of Players Handbook + OGL -> SRD

Thus those with a seperate licensing agreement are getting to use
the (100 - xx)% of the players handbook that is not in the SRD as
well. They also get to reference material NOT released as OGL yet
(most likely, but not positive as I do not know the details of the
licenses).
