The differences are extensive in the text. You can also find the new text in Tome & Blood: Paragraph 1 of the OGC version is split after the second sentense. Appended to that second sentense is a list of HD restrictions (no more than the caster or the recipient (take the highest) but limited to 15HD) and type restrictions (no constructs, elementals, outsiders or undead) Paragraph 2 of T&B is the second half of OGC paragraph 1. Paragraph 3 of T&B (2 of OGC) is almost completely rewritten. In fact the OGC version is also different than the PHB version. All of the parenthetical information is removed from the OGC. PHB: Natural abilities include armor, attack routines (claw, claw, and bite; swoop and rake; and constriction; but not petrification, breath weapons, energy drain, energy effects, etc), and similar gross physical qualities (presence or absense of wings, number of extremities, etc). OGC:Natural abilities include armor, natural weapons, and similar gross physical qualities. T&B: Natural abilities include armor, natural weapons (such as claws, bite, swoop and rake, and constriction; but not petrification, breath weapons, energy drain, energy effects, etc), and similar gross physical qualities (presence or absense of wings, number of extremities, etc). Paragraph 4 of T&B (3 of OGC): unchanged Paragraph 5 of T&B (4 of OGC): The OGC version is different than the T&B and PHB. OGC: The creature's new scores and faculties are average ones for the race or species into which it has been transformed. PHB: Adds example saying you cannot turn someone into a weight lifter to get a higher Strength score T&B: Includes weight lifter example and also says you cannot create a variant creature with the example of creating an ogre being okay but a half-dragon ogre not being okay. Paragraph 6,7,8 of T&B (5 of OGC and PHB): Except for the order of the sentences this is unchanged. Paragraph 6 of PHB is not included in T&B version. It involves being disoriented in the new form. Paragraph 9 of T&B (7): The OGC version eliminates the parenthetical example of creatures who do not use equipment Paragraph 10 of T&B (8): They are almost the same except the PHB has a remark that if you change the subject into himself he doesn't suffer the disorientation noted above. The T&B version gets rid of the parenthetical remark. The OGC version puts it back for no apparent reason. Paragraph 11 of T&B (9) Unchanged Paragraph 12 of T&B (10) Identical except the OGC does not contain the parenthetical example of what a natural shapeshifter is. Finally, the OGC does not state that the material component is an empty cocoon. I still don't feel anyone will notice the changes no matter which version they are using. _________________ Discovered while doing this comparison: None of the OGC spells have listed material components. (Just checked out passwall.) And they got rid of the internal references. Polymorph self does not say "same as poly other except...." Likewise Charm Monster has a full listing rather than just referencing Charm Person.
