I think you will find that most people won't want to tie glu
queries to the other query functions for various reasons
involving good design style.  I think the case can
be made either way for single/separate functions with
glX and gl.  Also, I think the ARB is amenable to voting
on a proposal for an ARB extension at the next ARB meeting.
(Just as an indicator that many ARB members do think this
extension is useful and important.)
