...and in fact, at least two people (I was one)
said that although we'd be happy with context-dependent,
context-independent would be OK too. So in reality,
only two people have strong objections to context-independent
returns from GetProcAddress.

So (as one of the 'b' voters) I'm happy to back this
decision.

Seconded!

Procedural point:  Brian said that one reason he didn't
want to put GetProcAddress into Mesa 3.1 was that it
would need a MESA suffix since either an EXT or ARB suffix
would imply some kind of ARB approval.

Is that the case for a glX extension?

I don't see glXwhateverEXT or glXwhateverARB tokens
anywhere.  I get the impression that glX isn't regulated
by the ARB (wgl certainly isn't!)...so there should be no
problem with using Brian's existing implementation with
a clear conscience.
