Fortunately, bad drives also die young (e.g. Maxtor). :)

(If it makes you feel any better, my PC was acting up last night and the
BIOS returned a SMART error saying data failure imminent .. except the
drive is a year old and there are actually 0 errors in the SMART log -
the BIOS just decided to scare me .. I think...)
