I realized today that I had not updated my resume in about a billion years, and when I was doing so, I realized that my experience with the ohrrpgce is probably actually equally important to my payed experience.
So I wrote the following, but I wanted to run it past the other devs, because honestly this engine belongs to you all every bit as much as it does to me, and I don't want to be representing myself as the "leader" without general approval of how I say it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The OHRRPGCE is a tool for creating old-school RPG games that resemble the ones on old console systems like the NES, SNES, and Genesis. Its games also bear resemblance to handheld games such as those for Game Boy Advance and some cell-phone games. I created the program as a personal project, but it has grown to be used by a moderate userbase, with over 800 games made with it that I am aware of (some 250+ of which are pretty good, and some 50+ of which are really awesome) I act as informal leader for the team that currently develops this program (4 main active developers at the time of this writing, plus dozens of less active devs and testers) The other developers are all self-directing, and I work to facilitate communication and cooperation in an environment where everybody is a volunteer, nobody has any direct authority over anyone else, but everybody still needs to get along and agree on decisions. An important part of maintaining the OHRRPGCE is shepherding the game engine's ancient and very messy codebase (was written in QuickBasic originally) in the direction of modern programming environments and platforms while maintaining full backwards compatibility with the whole library of existing games. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Anybody object to any of the above? Anybody have any suggestion for how to improve it? --- James _______________________________________________ Ohrrpgce mailing list [email protected] http://lists.motherhamster.org/listinfo.cgi/ohrrpgce-motherhamster.org
