This abort is a reminder that
if isfile(x) then
open x for ...
...
end if
is not equivalent to
if open(x for ...) = 0 then
...
end if
However this is the first time I can remember seeing the isfile
succeed while the OPEN failed. No idea why. Would be interested to
hear of other cases and whether it might be a real problem.
