Apparently the engine needs to do three things before games published on Steam
will be approved as having full controller support:
- [ ] Pause when the Steam Overlay is open
- [ ] When playing with a controller, autopause if the controller is unplugged
- [ ] If a controller is unplugged and replugged it doesn't work (this one is
a gfx_sdl2 (not SDL) bug I've been aware of for years)
That's according to the Steam QA tester conducting a campaign of attrition on
Fyre (who relented and stopped trying to claim full controller support). I
don't remember hearing from anyone else.
