Hi,

I have created and worked on porting PHP 5.3 from s10-userland, but it failed
to compile with Sun Studio (some extensions failed the build). In the future,
we plan on using GCC and all new components should be tested and compiled with
GCC. It will make life easier in the future.

If you are new to IPS packaging, I would suggest that you try to package some
easy thing you use and is not in the repository. If you want to start working
on PHP, I was planning to bring it directly from s10-userland alongside with
its dependencies
(https://hg.openindiana.org/users/aszeszo/s10-userland/file/b5b0d91539b7/components/php53).
PHP-FPM is not part of this, but adding support for it isn't much of a work.

I am also thankful for working on this and your interest in the OpenIndiana.
Most people hang around on irc.freenode.net in #oi-dev. If you have any other
questions, feel free to ask via IRC (pm xenol) or by email.

Cheers,
Adam
