Hi Ken >From what I understand KMS support requires significant kernel development effort. Few people tried to do the work but only Martin succeeded so far (well done Martin!).
Compiling updated X.org components would be a less of an effort and would not require so much expertise. The driver from https://www.illumos.org/issues/4044 is useless on illumos without KMS support in the kernel if I understand correctly? Andrzej
