It looks like the tools provided by vmware are not compatible with the Xorg server in hipster-2015. Xorg.0.log says:
[ 56371.097] (II) LoadModule: "vmmouse" [ 56371.097] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/amd64/vmmouse_drv.so [ 56371.098] (II) Module vmmouse: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [ 56371.098] compiled for 1.7.7, module version = 12.7.0 [ 56371.098] Module class: X.Org XInput Driver [ 56371.098] ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 7.0 [ 56371.098] (EE) module ABI major version (7) doesn't match the server's version (19) [ 56371.098] (II) UnloadModule: "vmmouse" [ 56371.098] (II) Unloading vmmouse These appear to be available here. http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/driver/ Has anyone tried to get these to build? If not, where would one add it? I guess the xnv consolidation, but where is the one hipster uses? Strangely, this vmware driver (on the same system) seems to be OK: [ 56370.489] (II) LoadModule: "vmware" [ 56370.490] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/amd64/vmware_drv.so [ 56370.497] (II) Module vmware: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [ 56370.497] compiled for 1.14.7, module version = 13.1.0 [ 56370.497] Module class: X.Org Video Driver [ 56370.497] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 14.1 But that could stop working too...
