I think every subimage should have all metadata that applies to that subimage.
Each subimage ought to be able to stand "on its own" -- an app that somehow
knows it needs subimage 2 should be able to seek to that one and read it,
without also needing to read subimage 0 and somehow do a line-by-line
comparison on the metadata to see what's missing.
