I don't know if this has already been resolved, but ilmbase is used by IlmImf (A.K.A. OpenEXR) for sure, and we may use bits of it here and there as well, but possibly not directly. But since OpenEXR assumes it's present, we would like to be able to freely use it should the need come up.
