I thought this might be an interesting GSoC opportunity. It could be useful to have a python interpreter built into IV. using the OIIO python bindings and an embedded interpreter, you could create a special iv module that gives access to currently loaded images and allows things like batch processing, loading images, color manipulations, etc. Might be more work than it's worth, but could also be very cool.
