For SIGGRAPH in Anaheim this year... Does anybody feel like it would be productive for us to have an OIIO BOF? Or an OSL BOF? Or a combo (if people interested in the two tend to be highly overlapping groups)? Or forgo both and just meet up after sessions for an overall production open source meet-up with drinks, as we did the past couple years?
The bar event is great for meeting people you only know virtually, matching names and faces, and by having all the production-driven open source project teams together, it's very time efficient for people who are involved in multiple projects. But it's not the right forum for having serious technical discussions, or giving a short presentation to other users on the cool thing you've done with the software, or discussing as a community the future directions -- you want a quiet room and maybe some equipment for that. Let me know, I'm happy to set up one or more BOFs if it would be useful. But if there is no cry for a BOF among the users and contributors, I will default to just the bar event. :-) -- Larry Gritz [email protected] _______________________________________________ Oiio-dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openimageio.org/listinfo.cgi/oiio-dev-openimageio.org
