YES! That's a great idea. You should be able to copy one image's metadata to a 
field of a different name entirely using the expression evaluation. For 
example, this would copy the DateTime field into the image description field:

        oiiotool old.jpg -sattrib ImageDescription {TOP.DateTime} -o new.jpg

That's with the current master branch only, because this expression evaluation 
is not in the release branch 1.5.

Ok, but it's possible that this is not necessary at all. I think that the DPX 
reader should try hard to load the DPX timecode into the generic "DateTime" 
metadata field, and also the JPEG writer will put the generic DateTime into the 
Exif data. So it may just work with no help at all:

        oiiotool old.dpx -o new.jpg

Does that already do what you want? If not, then I think Justin is on the right 
track.
