I have tagged Release-1.6.9 on the stable release branch RB-1.6. It contains some minor changes detailed in the release notes below. The branch marker "release" has also been updated to refer to this snapshot.
I'm afraid that we've broken our usual policy about never altering the API once a branch is marked as stable. It was only because these were critical fixes discovered immediately after marking 1.6 stable a couple weeks ago. I thought hard about it and decided it would be better to make this one change right at the beginning of the lifetime of 1.6, rather than be plagued by problems for the coming several months. Moving forward, I am not expecting to make any more compatibility-breaking changes within the 1.6 family of releases. RB-1.5 is now considered legacy and will get only critical updates upon request (as it also did this week, to fix a build break with the newly released Boost 1.60). master is where exciting new (and sometimes API-changing) changes continue to be made.
