If you don't mind parsing the text output, that is the most direct way. You 
could probably write a 4-line Python script that would just directly output the 
resolution (ok, maybe 20 lines if you did all the proper error checking).

I'm not sure oiio-users even still exists. It never really caught on, people 
just use oiio-dev right here.
