I'm 100% in favor of this, assuming that what we end up with is in the spirit 
of IOProxy (but with improvements!) and doesn't grow in complexity so much that 
it no longer serves the same purpose. (I've talked with Tom enough offline to 
believe we're probably on the same page on this.)
