It seems that the problem was the Oracle JDBC Driver.
I migrated to Oracle 9.2 from Oracle 8.1.7 and with the new JDBC Driver the
SequenceManager doesn't throw any exception.
I must use the new driver with Oracle 8.1.7 too.
I have let the change to the repository-internal:
<field-descriptor
name="maxKey"
column="MAX_KEY"
jdbc-type="BIGINT"
/>
that's more correct ... in my opinion.
