I'm not sure why you mentioned batch mode in your answer, as it didn't seem
to be relevant to the two OTN articles you pointed (that I noticed anyway).
I was thinking that you might want to have different pre-fetch sizes based
on the object type, though having a connection wide default would be a good
thing too.
