You might want to try the factory-class and factory-method attributes of
the class descriptor. If you use them, OJB will not require a constructor
in the class, and also the class is not required to be instantiable (this
even works with interfaces). In the factory-method you simply return an
instance of a concrete subclass (which shouldn't have its own mapping,
though, otherwise you'll run into problems).
