since in our app/testcases, we use our own persistence wrapper, the
application/testcase code that fails would not give you a workable example,
so i have to rewrite our testcase code to 'native' ojb PB API code and, as
you stated, simplify the object/datamodel. 

i don't know if i can do that within a day, i'm kind of busy on several
projects, but i'll try to produce the testcase by the end of the week.

You don't need to create a unit test (though it would be great). A
as-simple-as-possible datamodel and the PB Api calls using this
datamodel, which together reproduce the error, would help greatly in
finding the error.
