Is there anything that users like myself can do to help? The issue
tracking website seems out of date.
Users can always help by helping other users on this mailing list,
getting involved with development (on ojb-dev) or commenting on
issues in the issue tracker (JIRA):

There is always a need for more developers, the health and release-
cycle is highly dependent upon this.
