Hi Ricardo, I believe there are a number of posts that demonstrate people are using OJB for "real world" projects, so my advice is to go for it.
If you wait for what you refer to as a "solid implementation" then you make no progress (I wish I had a buck for every time *that* had been imposed on me in a "commercial environment"!). You could of course pay a fortune for a commercial OR mapping tool, but in my experience the fact that you pay for something does not guarantee quality or reliability (only bills for upgrades :-)). OJB is not only (in my opinion) a good OR mapping solution, but it has the advantages over a commercial product that a) you can change bits you don't like to suit your particular application area and b) there is a large body of people actively developing it, with useful discussions on a productive mailing list. When did you ever get that from a commercial product? if you are concerned about maybe having to change in the future, I would suggest trying to "future proof" your design as far as possible by eg building abstraction layers around key application areas, making it easier to swap things in and out if necessary. Finally re PB/ODMG, I would personally go for a PB solution for read access and ODMG for write/update etc, for performance reasons (you don't really need transaction/locking overhead for reads in general). Try it - you'll be glad you did :-) Cheers, Chris [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Hi, everyone. > > I am working on some research for a new project in my > company and OJB fits right in what we need. > We are working in specific components for development for > the company. > I read in the mailing list that JDO is a prototype yet and > ODMG is partly implemented. > > I saw a bunch o things on the site and didn't get into a > conclusion.
