I can still confirm this behaviour with Okular 0.14.3 using KDE 4.8.3 on
Gentoo.

Hiding the whole sidebar (F7) works fine (it's not shown again after closing
and re-opening Okular) but this bug is about keeping the sidebar buttons
without any of the menus "open".

Usecase: I *usually* don't need thumbnails, bookmarks, etc. so I close them
most of the time (small tablet) but i can't disable the sidebar completely
because when I do need them, I'd have to go through the menu to get them back
(which is hidden - again to safe screen real estate).
Other than that little annoyance, Okular is very touch friendly already and
this seems like a rather easy fix.
