Suggestion (however involves future modifications as well): - Make Text/Browse tool the only tool - Make selection and table selection and scroll tools "toggle button"-modes, which a) automatically exit once a corresponding operation has been performed (or aborted). b) or: make them stay in that mode until Esc is pressed (would mean removing the Esc binding to the table tool, which though should not be a problem - it can be easily replaced by clicking outside the area).
