One of the purposes of a menu bar is to teach users keyboard shortcuts. That's the reason why menu items have shortcuts listed next to them, and why tools with shortcuts have menu items. This isn't a philosophical position, it's a statement of fact regarding what menu bars are for. I really don't see what's such a big problem with this. Adding #VDG <https://phabricator.kde.org/tag/vdg/>, since one of the reasons why that group exists is to help us resolve disputes of this nature.
