I'd like to try building a local database from the full OL dumps,
since grepping a 5 GB file is less than speedy even on an SSD. I looked
on the website and first found
https://openlibrary.org/about/tech
which has a link under "Read the source code" to
https://github.com/openlibrary
However, this project appears to be long dead, showing no changes in the
last year (at least). I take it this is not actually the location of the
current OL code?
Meanwhile, over on
https://openlibrary.org/dev
there's a similar project linked to,
https://github.com/internetarchive/openlibrary
but which appears to be the (an?) active OL project.
Finally, on
https://openlibrary.org/about/schema
it comments that the database schema is out of date and the
authoritative schema is a python expression in the source repo.
Unfortunately, the given link to the source repo,
http://demo.openlibrary.org:9021/file/tip/catalog/schema.py
is dead. It would be great if someone who knows what the current
developer setup actually is could bring these pages up to date. Maybe
the schema page should just completely drop the defined-to-be-obsolete
six year old schema, too?
Thanks,
Jon
