Re: OpenBook use of Books API, and missing elements ...
The elements I cannot get back are: series, edition, copyright date
(not same as publish date), genre, URIs, purchase URIs, download
URIs, first sentence, and notes.
It is a challenge to find book records with just those items, so for
OpenBook version 2, I tested the return of elements by temporarily
adding them to a book record using the old web interface. The
response included all of the above.
For the current OpenBook version 3, I am using the new web
interface. I cannot find a place to enter series, edition, copyright
date, or genre. I'm guessing some of these, e.g., edition, have
changed due to your FRBR changes.
For example, for "Slow Reading", I added the following test elements:
About = "test description"
Excerpt = "test excerpt"
First sentence = "test first sentence"
Web resources = author's home page, "http://johnmiedema.ca"
Here's the link for the response:
http://openlibrary.org/api/books?bibkeys=ISBN:9780980200447&callback=x&details=true
Search for the word "test" -- is not found.
Search for "http://johnmiedema.ca" -- not found
(cc'ing the Open Library tech list on this thread)
Description, excerpts and web resources are part of the work.

The Books API currently returns only the edition data. I think the API
should be enhanced to provide all the required data. I'll start a new
thread in ol-tech to discuss that.
