All,
I'm going to start updating the Edition RDF to include some properties
that weren't available when it was first developed. One of these is
the Table of Contents.
The TOC in OL is an array of entries each with the following structure:
* level of type /type/string
* label of type /type/string
* title of type /type/string
* pagenum of type /type/string
Here are the instructions for inputting a TOC:
"Use a "*" for an indent, a "|" to add a column, and line breaks for
new lines. Like this:
* Part 1 | THIS WORLD | 1
** chapter 1 | Of the Nature of Flatland | 3
** chapter 2 | Of the Climate and Houses in Flatland | 5
* Part 2 | OTHER WORLDS | 42"
I added a full TOC to http://openlibrary.org/books/OL13628443M/Code.
You can see that it can have parts and chapters, and anything else
(appendices, bibliographies) that can appear in a TOC.
DC has tableOfContents, but of course it has no structure. In
particular, order matters here. It seems that I could use rdf:Seq with
repeated dct:tableOfContents, each with the four properties:
rdf:seq
dcterms:tableOfContents
??level 1
rdf:label "Part I"
dcterms:title "THIS WORLD"
bibo:firstPage "1"
dcterms:tableOfContents
??level 2
rdf:label "chapter 1"
dcterms:title "Of the Nature of Flatland"
bibo:firstPage "3"
etc.
Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks,
kc
